Earshot Voice Talent Of The Week: Amanda Fellows

Q & A With Amanda:
How did you get into voiceover? When I was living in Mexico, I had a random opportunity to audition for a children's bilingual software. They liked what they heard; I fell in love with VO instantly; 17 years and still going strong!
What type of voiceover projects are your favorite to work on? The nerdier the better. The engineer in me wants to know how everything works, so I actually think your 3-hr module on Export Compliance IS interesting.
How would you describe your voice? Client: "This is a pretty serious and unpleasant topic, but we can't seem like we're trying to scare them." Me: "So, like Disney meets Thunderdome?" Client: "Yes!" (audio gets delivered) Client: "HOW did you do that?? It's perfect!" So, 'pleasantly authoritative', I suppose.
What's your go-to dish at your favorite restaurant? Tamale Place: Fish taco combo, sin queso, mild salsita, black beans, mild salsa. Half-pint of mild guacamole (if I'm feeling rich...or needy).
What was your favorite concert and why? A tie between seeing KISS in Monterrey, Mexico (because that just seems funny to me) and the Moody Blues at Deer Creek in '92 when lightning crashed precisely at the end of Knights in White Satin and caused a blackout. Unreal!
If you were being chased by Toucan Sam in a fever dream, what lawn and garden tool would you use to fend him off and why? My dandy, huge Fiskars rake. Plenty of surface area to protect me, and sturdy enough to bat him away. And the handle can bonk him over the head when he's down. Who knew Tucan Sam could be such a jerk?!
